Saraiki Keyboard and Fonts
Saraiki language is widely spoken language in southern Punjab also called saraiki area, saraiki wasaib or saraiki belt. Saraiki area mainly consists of Multan, Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi khan divisions. Dera Ismail Khan is sometimes included in saraiki wasaib.
Saraiki keyboard is called Saraiki Phonetic Keyboard. It has 42 letters where urdu has 37 letters. Urdu, Punjabi, kashmiri can also be written by Saraiki phonetic keyboard. Most of universities in Pakistan have separate saraiki department. Bahauddin zakariya university Multan, Islamia University Bahawalpur, and Gomal University D I Khan have separate Saraiki departments.
Saraiki Keyboard works very well on Windows Based Computers. Saraiki Fonts are also available and can be download from following links.
Installation of Saraiki Keyboard:
Download and unzip the saraiki keyboard from the link above,double click the setup.exe to install a keyboard layout.
To add/remove Keyboard Layouts for Windows XP:
go to “Start”>>”Control Panel
Double click “Regional and Language options” icon
Press “Language” tab
Press “Detail” button
Press “Add” button
Select “Input Language: “Urdu”, and Keyboard layout/IME : ”Seraiki Phonetic”
To remove select a layout and press “Remove” button
To add/remove Keyboard Layouts for Windows Vista
Double click “Regional and Language options” icon
Press “Keyboard and Languages” tab
Press “Change keyboards…” button
Press “Add” button
Select “Input Language: “Urdu”, and Keyboard: ”Seraiki Phonetic”
To remove select a layout and press “Remove” button
